Episode 13 What's the News?

Dialogue 1
(Raymond is in the living room watching the daily news.)
Announcer: And now for today's lead story...
Eric: Anything interesting, Raymond?
Raymond: Nah, same old stuff.
Announcer: Fighting has broken out in...
Raymond: They've been fighting off and on for 3 years.
Eric: Yeah, but they announced a truce last week.
Raymond: So what’s the big deal?
Eric: Nothing. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Announcer: Stay tuned for further updates...
Raymond: Will the world ever be at peace?
Eric: Sometimes, I doubt it.
Announcer: On a lighter note…
Dialogue 2
(Benny and Sammy are watching the local TV news.)
Announcer: There was a hold-up at Maxies.
Sammy: What's all the hoopla about, Benny?
Benny: Another robbery. A gang robbed the bank in broad daylight. According to the news, it was easy pickings.
Sammy: Again! Why can't they catch these guys?
Benny: I think the police department's overloaded.
Sammy: Then it's time to get the private eyes involved.
Benny: You know they can't do that.
Sammy: Yeah, but too many criminals are still at large. Enough is enough; it's time to crack down.
Announcer: In Afghanistan, the new government is on shaky ground, but things are improving.
Benny: That's a positive sign.
Sammy: Sure is. Hopefully, things will all work out.
Announcer: In finance, a market surge came on the heels of an encouraging economic forecast.
Benny: Now that's good news! I gotta cheek my stocks.
Sammy: Me too. Bartender, another round, please.
